Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy seems to have turned a philosopher these days. It is evident from the way he is giving lectures on fate, destiny and luck to the Congress party workers. Addressing the party workers at Sarpavaram village in East Godavari district, Kiran asked them not to run after posts and positions in the party.
“If you have luck, you will get posts even before you ask for them. Take my own example. Former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao told me way back in 1991 that I would get the cabinet berth. I did not get it. I have lobbied for the cabinet post later, but I could not get it. I did not try for the Chief Whip post or the Speaker’s post. And I got them even without making any attempt. That is called fate. Believe in your fate, rather than running around Hyderabad and Delhi for posts,” he told them.
Kiran, however, cleverly avoided disclosing how he got the Chief Minister post. He did not reveal how he had lobbied for the post in Delhi; and how he travelled from Hyderabad to Delhi via Bangalore or Chennai; and how he carried suitcases to the capital. Well, preaching is only for others and not for one’s own self!
