The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has questioned the propriety of YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi’s plan to take up dharna in Siricilla to highlight the plight of weavers.
TRS legislator and Siricilla MLA K T Rama Rao wondered why Vijayalakshmi had not chosen Chirala or Dharmavaram for her dharna.
“There are more number of weavers in Dharmavaram and Chirala than in Siricilla. And the plight of weavers is common everywhere. She could have as well gone there to take up the cause of weavers,” he pointed out.
He alleged that Vijayamma had a different agenda in coming to Siricilla.
“We will definitely obstruct her visit to Siricilla, as she is coming there with a different motive. Everybody here knows her husband Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had done little for weavers in this area. He was the one who had stalled the Telangana formation. Unless Vijayamma declares her party’s stand on Telangana state formation, she cannot enter the region. She will meet the same fate as her son Jagan had met during his attempt to visit Mahbubabad in May 2010,” KTR warned.
